STUDIO
2D ANIMATION

Some ideas need more thana camera to tell them properly. They need to be drawn.

Craft that communicates. Stories that stay.

Studio iQ is a 2D animation studio in India producing character animation, brand films, illustrated explainer videos and 2D campaign content for corporate brands that need warmth, personality and narrative storytelling in their communication. Over a decade of 2D animation production. Every frame drawn with intention.

Hero Image. 2D animation production or finished 2D animation still. Could show a 2D animation artist working on a character or scene, a high-quality 2D animated frame showing the craft and visual intelligence of the work, or a behind-the-scenes view of the 2D animation pipeline at Studio iQ. Should communicate the combination of artistic skill and commercial intelligence that defines the studio's 2D animation work.

WHAT THIS ACTUALLY IS

2D animation is not a cheaper
version of 3D. It is a different
tool for a different job.

Supporting Image. A high quality 2D animation still showing character, environment or brand communication. Should demonstrate the visual craft of Studio iQ's 2D animation. Considered illustration style, clean line work, expressive character design, or a beautifully composed 2D scene that communicates both artistic quality and commercial purpose.

2D animation has a quality that no other medium produces in quite the same way. It is the quality of being drawn. Of existing in a world where everything was made by hand with a specific intention. That quality creates warmth, personality and a visual distinctiveness that photorealistic 3D animation and live action film cannot replicate. When a brand needs its audience to feel something. To connect with a character, to follow a story, to understand a concept through the language of illustration. 2D animation is the tool that does it best.

The choice between 2D and 3D animation is a communication decision, not a budget decision. A brand that chooses 2D animation because it costs less than 3D is making the wrong calculation. A brand that chooses 2D animation because the brief requires warmth, narrative and the visual language of illustration is making exactly the right one. Studio iQ advises on this choice at the brief stage. Because the wrong medium for the communication objective is a wasted production regardless of how well it is executed.

The range of what 2D animation can do for corporate communication is wider than most brands realise. A 2D brand film can carry the full emotional weight of a live action production with a fraction of the logistical complexity. A 2D explainer can make a genuinely complex product feel approachable and human in a way that a 3D technical animation never will. A 2D social media series can build a brand character over time that becomes as recognisable as the brand's logo. These are not theoretical capabilities. They are things Studio iQ produces for corporate clients regularly.

Studio iQ has been producing 2D animation in India for over a decade. We have developed distinctive visual styles for brands that wanted a recognisable animated identity, produced character-led explainer films that made technical products feel like a conversation, and delivered 2D brand films that played at conferences and stayed on websites for years because they communicated something true about the brand that nothing else had managed to say.

WHAT WE PRODUCE

Six types of 2D animation.
Every one built for a specific commercial purpose.

Card Image. 2D brand film still or character animation frame. A cinematic 2D animated frame from a corporate brand film showing the emotional depth and visual craft that 2D animation brings to brand storytelling.

01

2D Brand Films

A 2D brand film tells the story of what a brand believes in the visual language of illustration and movement. It is the format that works when the brief requires emotional connection rather than technical demonstration. When the brand needs to communicate its values, its culture, or its origin story in a way that feels human and genuinely crafted. Studio iQ produces 2D brand films for companies that want their brand communication to feel like it was made by people who care about the craft, not assembled from a production template.

Card Image. 2D character animation frame or character design sheet. A well-designed 2D character in a brand context. Expressive, distinctive, communicating personality and purpose through design and movement.

02

Character Animation

Characters make brands human. A well-designed 2D character can carry a brand's personality into every piece of communication it appears in. The explainer video, the social media series, the app onboarding flow, the conference presentation. Studio iQ designs and animates 2D brand characters for companies that want a consistent animated presence across their communication. From the initial character design and expression sheets through to a full library of animated sequences the brand can use across every touchpoint.

Card Image. 2D explainer video frame. A clear, engaging 2D animated frame from an explainer video showing a complex idea being communicated with visual clarity and narrative warmth.

03

2D Explainer Videos

A 2D explainer video is the format that makes complex things feel simple and simple things feel engaging. Studio iQ produces 2D explainer videos for corporate brands, SaaS companies, financial services firms, healthcare providers and any business whose product or service needs more than a camera to explain properly. The illustration style, the character treatment and the narrative structure are all developed from the brief. Not applied from a template that was used for the last client in a different category.

Card Image. 2D social media animation or short-form content. A visually striking 2D animated frame designed for social media distribution. Could show a looping social media animation, a branded illustrated post in motion, or a social media series still that communicates brand identity through 2D animation.

04

2D Social Media Animation

Social media content produced in 2D animation stands out in a feed full of photography and generic video because it looks and feels like it was made. Not filmed, not generated, but drawn and animated with intention. Studio iQ produces 2D animation series for social media that build a visual identity over time. A consistent illustrated world that makes the brand's social presence recognisable before the audience has read a single word.

Card Image. 2D educational or training animation frame. A clear, engaging 2D animated scene from a training or educational video. Showing a concept being made accessible through illustrated storytelling.

05

Educational and Training Animation

Learning retention is higher when the content is animated, narrative-led and visually engaging. Studio iQ produces 2D educational and training animation for corporate learning programmes, compliance training, onboarding content and e-learning modules. The animation makes the content easier to absorb, easier to remember, and. Unlike most corporate training materials. Something people actually watch to the end.

Card Image. 2D advertising or campaign animation frame. A dynamic, brand-correct 2D animated frame from an advertising campaign. Showing the combination of visual distinctiveness and commercial intent that defines advertising animation done properly.

06

2D Advertising and Campaign Animation

2D animation in advertising creates immediate visual differentiation in a media environment saturated with photography and live action film. A 2D animated TVC or digital ad stands out not because animation is unusual but because good 2D animation with a genuine visual identity and a strong narrative idea is rare. Studio iQ produces 2D advertising animation for television, digital and social platforms. From thirty-second TVCs through to full campaign content series produced in a consistent 2D visual world.

WHY STUDIO IQ

We build 2D animation that looks
like it could only have been made
for your brand specifically.

Studio iQ is a 2D animation studio in India with in-house capability across concept development, scriptwriting, illustration and character design, rigged and frame-by-frame animation, sound design and final delivery. We do not use stock character libraries or template illustration styles. Every 2D animation we produce has a visual identity developed specifically for the brand and the communication objective of the brief. The result is animation that is visually distinctive from the first frame. And stays that way because no other brand is using the same visual language.

We have produced 2D animation for corporate brands across technology, healthcare, financial services, education, consumer goods and manufacturing. For technology brands the 2D style makes complex products feel approachable. For healthcare brands it makes clinical information feel human. For financial services brands it makes abstract concepts feel tangible. The brief changes. The principle does not. The 2D animation should make the communication more effective, not more decorative.

The 2D animation Studio iQ produces tends to stay in use longer than the average production. Not because we build in planned obsolescence but because visual styles developed from a genuine brief rather than a current trend age more slowly than trend-led work. Several of our best-performing 2D animations have been in active commercial use for three to five years after original delivery.

Section Image. Studio iQ 2D animation team at work. Could show an animator working on a character or scene, a creative review of 2D animation artwork, or a spread of character design and illustration work from a Studio iQ production. Should communicate genuine craft, artistic skill and the working environment of a serious 2D animation studio.

Every frame drawn with intention.

No templates. No shortcuts.

HOW WE WORK

From 2D animation brief to final
delivery. Every stage where craft
meets commercial purpose.

2D animation production requires more creative decisions per second of final output than almost any other production format. Studio iQ's process is designed to make each of those decisions intentionally. And to catch the ones that need revisiting at the stage where revision is still straightforward.

01

Script and Creative Brief

We start with the communication objective. Not the illustration style. What does this 2D animation need the audience to understand, feel or do by the time it ends. The script is developed from that objective and reviewed with the client before any illustration begins. For character-led productions this stage also includes the character brief. The personality, the visual cues that communicate that personality, and the emotional range the character needs to express throughout the animation. A script and character brief that are approved with genuine confidence are the foundation everything else is built on.

02

Visual Development and Styleframes

We develop the visual direction for the animation. The illustration style, the colour palette, the character design, the environment design, and the overall visual world the animation will inhabit. This is presented as a set of styleframes. Static key moments from the animation showing how the finished work will look. Before any animation begins. The styleframes are the most important review stage in a 2D production. Changes to the visual direction at this point cost a fraction of changes made once animation is underway. We do not begin animating until the visual direction has been approved by the client with genuine enthusiasm. Not reluctant acceptance.

03

Animation Production

Animation production begins once the visual direction is approved. For rigged character animation this includes the rigging of every character and asset, scene construction, and the animation of every sequence in the script. For frame-by-frame productions it includes the layout of every scene and the frame-by-frame illustration of the complete animation. We produce a work-in-progress review at the halfway point of the animation production. Typically showing the first half of the final animation in rough animation form. So that the overall pacing, timing and narrative flow can be reviewed and adjusted before the full production is completed.

04

Sound Design and Final Delivery

Sound design is produced once the picture lock is confirmed. This includes music selection or original composition, voice-over direction and recording where required, and sound effects that give the animation its final layer of life and dimension. Sound design for 2D animation is not an afterthought. It is the element that determines whether the emotion the animation was built to produce actually lands when the audience watches it. Final delivery covers every format, every cut, and every subtitle file the production requires.

EduSpark. A 2D animated explainer
that turned a confused product
into a category leader.

EduSpark had a genuinely strong product and a communication problem that was costing them enrollments every day. The platform had more features than any competitor but nobody could explain it simply. Not the sales team, not the marketing team, and not the website. Every attempt to explain the product produced either an overwhelming list of features or a vague aspiration about learning journeys that meant nothing to a parent trying to decide whether to spend money on a course for their child. Studio iQ produced a ninety-second 2D animated explainer that started not with the product but with the moment of recognising a problem. A child struggling with something they are about to give up on, and a parent who does not want that to happen. The animation showed EduSpark as the resolution of that specific tension, with the features appearing as the natural answer to the problem rather than as a catalogue of capabilities. The character design gave the brand a visual warmth it had never had in any previous communication. The explainer was embedded on the homepage, used in paid social campaigns, and shared by the sales team as the opening to every demo. Return on ad spend increased to four point two times in the first quarter. Twenty-eight thousand student enrollments were attributed to campaigns featuring the animation within six months of delivery.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everything you want to know before
briefing a 2D animation studio in India.

How much does 2D animation cost in India?

2D animation production costs in India range from approximately 1.5 lakh rupees for a simple 60-second explainer video with a standard illustration style and rigged character animation, to 8 lakh rupees or more for a premium 2D brand film with custom character design, complex environments, frame-by-frame animation sequences and original music composition. The cost is determined by the duration of the final animation, the complexity of the illustration style, whether animation is rigged or frame-by-frame, the number of characters and scenes, and the sound design requirements. Studio iQ provides a transparent production estimate with a full breakdown after the initial brief.

How long does 2D animation production take?

A standard 60 to 90 second 2D explainer video with rigged character animation typically takes four to six weeks from approved script to final delivery. A 2D brand film of two to three minutes with custom character design and more complex visual treatment typically takes eight to twelve weeks. The production timeline includes script development, visual development and styleframe approval, animation production, and sound design. Client review stages are built into the timeline at the script stage, the styleframe stage, and the work-in-progress animation review stage. Studio iQ provides a clear timeline with milestones at the start of every project.

What is the difference between rigged animation and frame-by-frame animation?

Rigged animation involves building a digital puppet of each character with joints and controls that allow the animator to pose and move the character efficiently. It is faster to produce than frame-by-frame animation and is the standard approach for most commercial 2D animation. Frame-by-frame animation involves drawing every frame of the animation individually. Creating a fluid, organic quality of movement that rigged animation cannot fully replicate. Frame-by-frame is more time-intensive and more expensive but produces a distinctly handcrafted quality. Studio iQ produces both and advises on which approach is appropriate for the specific brief and budget.

Can you develop a custom illustration style for our brand?

Yes. Studio iQ develops custom 2D illustration styles for brands that want a distinctive animated visual identity. The style development process covers the illustration approach, the character design language, the colour palette, the environment design principles, and the overall visual world of the animation. A custom style developed for one brand is not reused for another. The output of the style development is a visual style guide that can be applied consistently across every animated production the brand commissions. Ensuring that all 2D animation produced for the brand looks like it belongs to the same visual world.

Do you provide voice-over for 2D animation?

Yes. Studio iQ provides voice-over direction, casting and recording for 2D animation productions. We work with a network of professional voice-over artists across English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati and other regional languages. For character-led animations the voice casting is treated with the same seriousness as the character design. Because the voice is as much a part of the character as the illustration. Voice direction sessions are conducted in a studio environment with the creative director present to ensure the performance matches the character brief.

Can 2D animation be adapted for multiple formats?

Yes. Studio iQ produces 2D animation in all formats required for the client's use cases. Horizontal 16:9 for website and broadcast, square 1:1 for social media feed, vertical 9:16 for Instagram and LinkedIn stories, and any other format specified in the brief. Adaptations to different formats are designed as part of the production process. Not cropped from the master version. Because a 2D animation designed for a horizontal format requires different compositional decisions than one designed for vertical viewing. Format requirements are confirmed at the brief stage.

What industries do you produce 2D animation for?

Studio iQ produces 2D animation for corporate brands across technology and SaaS, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, financial services and fintech, education and EdTech, consumer goods and FMCG, manufacturing, real estate and professional services. 2D animation is particularly well-suited to communication challenges that require warmth and narrative storytelling. Making it especially effective for consumer brands, education and healthcare communication, and any corporate brand whose product or service benefits from being made to feel human and approachable rather than technical and impressive.

How do we start a 2D animation brief with Studio iQ?

The first step is a discovery call. A 30-minute conversation about what you need to communicate, who the audience is, where the animation will be used, your timeline, and your approximate budget. No preparation is needed. Bring the communication problem you are trying to solve and we will advise on whether 2D animation is the right medium and what a production to the required standard would cost. We respond to all new enquiries within one working day.
